According to the legal basis “Code of Federal Regulations” §4.7a (v), the smallest external packaging unit must be named on the manifest (Bill of Lading).
To explain this to you in more detail, here is an example with 10 palletized boxes:
- 10 boxes in transparent film on a pallet -> 10 cartons on 1 pallet
- 10 boxes in black non-transparent film on a pallet -> 1 Package on 1 pallet
- 10 boxes in one outer box on a pallet -> 1 carton on 1 pallet
- 10 boxes in two outer boxes on 2 bundled/stacked pallets -> 2 cartons on 2 pallets
We therefore ask you to inform us of the exact number of packages when loading, as the pallets are considered loading aids in the USA and not packaging.
