The French authorities have taken action and announced a gradual restriction of the possibilities for controlling liquids.
Since the abolition of the so-called “special control procedure” in Germany, freight tourism to France has become established, which has so far made it possible to secure liquids in particular for transportation by air freight, which could no longer be controlled in Germany.
There had been rumors for some time that this option was to be abolished in France.
Now the French authorities have actually taken action and announced a gradual restriction of the options for checking liquids:
- From 01.04.2024, containers with liquids of more than 25 liters may only be checked by EDD with a special permit from the French authorities.
- The maximum limit for the control of liquids by EDD is then limited to 6x 5 liters in a carton.
- From 01.10.2024, only liquids with a maximum of 6 x 5 liters in a carton may be checked by EDD.
- It is expressly pointed out that this regulation applies to all shipments, regardless of whether the shipper is based in France or in other countries.
